Safety

Safety is at top of mind at Howler Bike Park as we want everyone to have the best time riding our trails.

Howler Mountain is best ridden on mid to big travel bikes, even DH bikes! The minimum rear travel we suggest is 150 if you want to have a blast on everything we offer! E-bikes are allowed but leave those e-motos (like Surron) at home. Bikes that have rim brakes, are fully rigid, or are generally not in good shape will not be permitted to ride.

Pre-Ride, Re-Ride, Free-Ride

Pre-Ride: Warm up the brain and body by inspecting the trail at low speed. Take the time to check your equipment.

Re-Ride: Lap the trail a few times and get to know the flow of the feature.

Free-Ride: Start small and work your way up to faster and larger features.

Required equipment:

  • helmet

Recommended equipment:

  • full-face helmet
  • knee pads
  • elbow pads
  • chest protector

All recommended gear is available to rent at our on-site bike shop.

TRAIL SIGNS

All the trails at Howler Mountain are marked with trail signs so you can be aware of the trail's difficulty before you descend.

The green circle, blue square, and black diamond indicate different degrees of difficulty.

  • Green Circle: Beginner. Trails for every rider regardless of experience level.
  • Blue Square: Intermediate. Technical rides with increased difficulty.
  • Black Diamond: Advanced. Higher difficulty. Steep descents and big jumps.
  • Double-Black Diamond: Expert. The most difficult trails. Drops, jumps, and intense riding.
