FAQS
Answers to your burning biking questions.
No, bikes that have rim brakes, are fully rigid or are generally not in good shape will not be permitted to ride. This is for your and other riders' safety.
Yeah, we suggest starting on Stollercoaster. There are no features, plenty of rest stops, and a very easy slope to the trail!
Yes, but they are marked and only found on black and double black diamond trails. Greens and blues will have feature ride arounds!
Howler is ridden best on mid to big travel bikes, even DH bikes! The minimum rear travel we suggest is 150 if you’re wanting to have a blast on everything we offer!
On our website or at the Welcome Center at Basecamp.
The annual pass will last exactly one full year from the time of purchase.
Nope! Private lessons and coaching could result in a permanent ban from the Park. No one wants that.
Yes, but all dogs must remain on a leash and be attended to at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the shuttle or any of the bike trails. You are also responsible for picking any of the dogs droppings up.
Every kid is different, so that is up to the parent. Although our green is very mellow with no features it is still a bike park with steeper grades, and large berms.
Depends on how you feel about your face. They are not mandatory, but we do encourage them. We have full-face rentals at Mountain Movement in Basecamp.
Of Course! Rain or shine you can shred the gnar, however, be mindful of trail closings!
Seriously? Have you met the Howler?? If he hasn’t snatched it up, all lost items will be kept in a safe place for 30 days.
We have a designated hiking trail. You will be required to stay on the hiking trail at all times. Hiking on bike trails is strictly forbidden.
Yes, crazy! You will still have to pay the same price, and stay on the designated uphill access trail, but hey if getting to the top quickly with full breath isn’t your thing, knock yourself out.
Not a chance! For the safety and privacy of other rippers, drones will not be permitted for guest use.
E-bikes are allowed. E-motos such as a suron are not allowed at the park, however.
No, you do not. We will gladly take care of that in the Welcome Center when you check-in. We will need a valid waiver for everyone in your party before riding.
Our waivers are valid for 365 days. We will link your waiver if you are riding again within that time frame. If your waiver has expired, we will need a new one. Our reservation system will automatically send you an email to sign a waiver when you book online, even if you have a valid waiver in our system.
It includes access to our shuttles, trails, and skills park all day.
We do not.
Yes! Howler Bike Park is open rain or shine, and we like to think that it's even more fun in the rain since biking is a get-dirty sport. The trails are built to shed water and are maintained during the week. As a general rule of thumb, the more manageable the trail is, the longer it takes to dry. If you get muddy, Howler has all the comforts to get you back in the dry! We have an awesome bike wash area complete with a turbo-jet spray hose and free bike cleaning products for guests. Super-plush hot showers in the locker room and cozy "Towlers" are available for sale in the Welcome Center. Head to Howler Coffee to warm up and enjoy hot beverages like coffee, lattes, cocoa, and more. Note: Some of our wooden features may be closed for safety reasons when wet. If you decide that riding in the rain is not your jam, contact us, and we can move your booking to a different date.
Helmets are required on all trails, and in the skills park.
We only require a helmet, but elbow pads, knee pads, and chest protectors are recommended. We have these available for rent as well.
Bikes must have disc brakes (no rim brakes) and at least a front suspension fork (no rigid bikes). We recommend a full-suspension bike with a minimum of 150 travel.
Absolutely! Should you choose to do this, we will email you your reservation confirmation and a link to sign a waiver in advance, which will speed up your check-in process once you arrive at the Park.
Our reservation system allows you to purchase multiple passes for adults, children, and bike rentals simultaneously for a single date. If you book four or more people together for one date, you will get a group discount.
Yes! Groups of 4 or more will receive a discount if purchased together. You will see this discount as you add more people to your reservation.
Once you ride your bike down to Base Camp, you will visit our Welcome Center, where we will check your reservation and waiver, and you will receive your wristband for that day's shuttles.
Yes. Riders 12 years and younger must always be accompanied by an adult rider (18 years or older).
No, we do not have any way to store bikes overnight safely.
No, we do not.
Yes, we recommend it, as we have limited rentals in each size.
All of our rentals are full-suspension bikes. Brands vary with size, but some that we have in our fleet include Intense, Transition, and Commencal.

No, they are not. We have full-face helmets available to rent for $29.
The best and quickest way to communicate with us if you are staying in the Park is the HipCamp app. We use it for all of our camping-related communication. If you are staying with us, please download the app so that we can communicate with you about check-in/check-out, gate codes, and any things you might need while staying with us.
How do I communicate with the Park after hours if I stay at a campsite? All communication will be through the HipCamp app.
The Park doesn't have availability on the day I want to come. Why is that? The Park is only open Thursdays through Sundays, so we only offer camping on those nights.
Do you have set check-in/check-out times? Yes, we do. If you have booked a Glamping Tent or the Hideout Apartment, you may check in as early as 3 pm. We ask that everyone check in by 7 pm so that we can greet you and help you navigate to your site. Check-out is at 11 am for all sites. If you need late check-in or late check-out, please communicate through the HipCamp app.
For the Hideout Apartment, please call 417-834-6050 upon arrival, and we will direct you to your parking spot. For the Glamping Tents, you can either park in the parking lot and call 417-834-6050 for us to shuttle you and your belongings to your tent or ride down on arrival, and we can shuttle you back up for your belongings. Be advised that we do not shuttle bikes to and from the parking lot in the side-by-side. For Primitive Camping, you will park in the parking lot, call us, and we will gladly help you carry your things to your campsite, a short walk down Howler Pass from the parking lot.
No, because riders frequently cross the service road on a trail.
Can I park at my campsite? Only those staying in the Hideout Apartment can park at their site.
Where are the bathrooms/showers? Our restrooms, showers, and lockers are in Base Camp, in the cedar building with metal signage. They are five minutes from the parking lot and our Primitive and Glamping sites. The facility is lit and unlocked all night long.
There are fire pits and picnic tables by each Primitive Camping Site. Firewood for these is located between Primitive Sites 2 and 3. There is one large communal fire pit with a grate and plenty of firewood across the path from our Glamping Tents. We will gladly start a fire for you here!
You are welcome to cook over the fire pits at the Primitive or the large communal fire pit by the Glamping Tents. We do not allow electronic cooking devices inside tents.
The only sites with electricity are the Hideout Apartment and Glamping Sites. While the Glamping Sites have electricity, please be advised that we do not allow electronic cooking devices inside tents. The Primitive Sites and Parking Sites do not have electricity.
Absolutely! Dogs are permitted at all campsites. At Base Camp, we request that dogs be leashed and attended at all times. While dogs are allowed on our hiking trail, we do not allow dogs on our riding trails.
Yes! We do NOT however allow outside food or drink at Base Camp.
Can I leave my bike at base camp? If you are glamping, you can store your bike in your tent or on the deck of your tent, but we do not have any way to store bikes safely overnight at Base Camp.
We do, and we can share the password with you upon your arrival.
